Un-BRAC Walter Reed?

BRAC: not perfect? Funny, those who talked about how perfect and pure BRAC is are sure quiet on this one - though those familiar with the port issues on the West Coast and the Cecil vs Oceana argument understand what is going on. Unlike those two issues - there is still time to do something about closing Water Reed. In the 06 MAR CQ:
Revelations about problems with patient care at Walter Reed Army Medical Center have lawmakers in both parties rethinking the decision to close the facility.
...
C.W. Bill Young, R-FL., ranking member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, said he an John P. Murtha, D-PA, the panel's chairman, are giving serious consideration to revisiting the BRAC's decision to close Walter Reed.
...
"That's a BRAC decision we probably should reopen," said ThomasM. Davis III, R-VA, the Oversight and Government Reform Committee's ranking member. "I think this will be revisited."

Added Chairman Henry A. Waxman, D-Calif., "I think it should stay open."
With these guys saying these things - stand-by. Maybe just CYA talk - but doesn't sound that way.
